Wreath with Lei pattern Special! This Wreath is the same as the Ohia Wreath pattern but with the addition of a "lei" (border) designed by Gerry O'Neill. She loved the Ohia Wreath design and decided that it needed a border - so she designed it for me!

Bird of Paradise has spectacular long-stemmed flowers that resembles a bird's beak with head plumage of orange and blue. It is found in many Hawaiian gardens and used extensively in floral arrangements. The plant has stiff leafstalks with leathery leaves 6" to 18" long.

Dogwood is a tree, native to Southwestern US, and thrives in shade in both the wild and in cultivation. Profuse blooms of pure white or bright pink appear around Easter.

Koa is one of Hawaii's largest native trees of the upland forest The young tree and lower branches bear it's true small leaves. The mature tree has sickle-shaped flattened leaf stalks.

Kudzu "my beautiful enemy" is a lovely vine with lush green foliage and grape-scented purple flowers that hummingbirds love. As a destructive, imported plant known for its rapid growth, it is appropriately named.

|
Naupaka is a small tree that grows on the edge of the upland rainforest. It is known best by its small white half-flower.

|
Ohelo Berries grow on small bushes or trees on the dry side of the Hawaiian islands. They are food for the native nene (goose). The also make delicious jams and pies.

|
Ohia Wreath is made from liko, the new shoots of the ohia tree, with many other seeds, pods, ferns, berries and flowers. You can add whatever you like to your quilted wreath using applique, embroidery, beads, ribbon, decorations, ornaments, etc. Be creative !

|
Olapa means "dancer". This native tree has dangling leaves that twinkle in the tropical breeze. Olapa lends its lightness to the starched lace of the ohia trees, with which it shares the upper rainforest canopy.

|
Orchid plants grow well in the cooler, moist uplands of Hawaii and vanda orchids can be found growing wild all over the Big Island, also known as the Orchid Island.
|
|||||
|
Uki grass is a native plant that likes best to grow in the undisturbed rainforest of Hawaii. It's bloom is a plume of brown seeds that appear seasonally.
